It was wonderful and exciting to see someone who had always deserved attention to finally get it, even if she wasn't sure how it suddenly happened. I think the excitement of knowing she'd be set loose to enjoy people seeking her out and wondering how she reacted really pulled me in True to its blurb, this book has left we excited to see what is going to happen next.
I think the excitement of knowing she'd be set loose to enjoy people seeking her out and wondering how she reacted really pulled me in and luckily it did because this is such a lovely read. It was a refreshing read and had a unique perspective on the whole process of wanting, getting and the enjoying the dating life. It was written in a way that definitely felt a little fresh and exciting, rather than follow the typical route most write through, with a romantic read.
I loved that, as it made it exciting all over again. The characters are lovely, friendly and easy to connect with. I particularly liked the main character, as she was real and so easy to feel as though I was getting to know her. This meant that I was able to connect with the story and feel as though I was there. Being fully submerged into the read obviously meant I had a really hard to putting the book down and an even harder time closing the back cover so to speak, as I was on my kindle and know that I had to patiently, and very excitedly, await the next book.
Overall, a lovely read and one I would recommend if you want something lovely to read of an evening, especially with the day of love approaching. Arc received for review. Feb 03, Julie Clarke rated it it was amazing. Long awaited new book By Devon Speed dating, that's plain Jane's nightmare and Zac and Mike prove the point.
Jane sadly epitimises the less than average looking amongst us, it was like reading about myself. I feel for Jane. I love the sneekiness of the author, he kept teasing us with the hero at the beginning, I randomly thought " Ooh here he is, no? Ooh this is him now, but no! I don't think I've ever been kept waiting so long for the hero to turn up! And then suddenly there's more than one. And then suddenly there's more than one CC is sassy, but I missed Jane, her awkwardness, her wishful dreams.
A chance to show all those that we do belong. I like Brodie's smart, straight talking mouth. He's fun in a slightly chauvanistic way. Highlighting yet again the indepth research this author goes to, to ensure all the facts stack up.
And she plays a tangled game with him. And then, everything is bought back to earth with a thud, with just one single sentence Because OMG, just sentences later there appears a flicker of hope for Jane! I am on tenderhooks for Part 2. I am so shouting in Jane's corner, I want to see her believe that she is beautiful and worthy Highly recommended!!
Jan 27, Tales Of A Bookbug rated it really liked it. I loved this book! We don't really see many male authors in romance, but I am glad that this is slowly changing, since they write just as good as their female counterparts.
Devon Hartford is one such author that I love. His writing has the perfect combination of humor, romance and reality in it. In this book we have Jane Johnson, who is very plain and unnoticeable. She has tried almost everything to make the opposite sex notice her, but nothing works. They always seem to prefer her beautiful sister ove I loved this book! They always seem to prefer her beautiful sister over her.
After a walk, she ends up at a mansion where she meets Wes and stumbles upon his grandmother's rings, which he lets her keep. And so begins our Jane's unexpected transformation. After a few days of rest, she wakes up to a completely different and more beautiful version of herself. And now she is being notice by everyone.
But is it worth it? Will Jane be happy with her newfound beauty and make longlasting relationships or will she end up disappointed? Jane is a really great main character. Sweet and intelligent with a voice full of humor. I loved reading about her transformation and her reactions to what starts happening around her.
This book makes us question-is beauty worth it? Would you rather be noticed for your looks or your intelligence? Is it that great if men fall for your beauty, but don't see the inner you? Though all of us think beautiful people have it easy at times, it isn't so. Everybody is human and has their own set of difficulties and issues. The men in Jane's life are interesting. Wes, the hot guy who gave her the rings. Brodie her neighbor, who never noticed her before an her best friend George.
Jane deserves a lot of wonderful romance and I hope she gets it! I'm on team Wes here and I can't wait to see where this story goes! Eagerly waiting for the next book! Feb 10, The Book Junkie Reads. The price of beauty can be a price you are unwilling to pay because it can be too steep a price. In this beautifully sweet romance Jane Johnson discoveries the hidden cost behind beauty. The perceptions of beauty and if she would be willing to live the rest of her life paying the price.
Jane finds the answers to: Is it worth the cost? Is she willing to pay that cost? Can she look at herself and appreciate who she is and what she had become? Devon Hartford has hooked me in all the way. I loved Jan The price of beauty can be a price you are unwilling to pay because it can be too steep a price.
I loved Jane. I loved the reality of her experiences. I loved that this was a process for her. I look forward to see how this journey ends for her. I love both Wes and George. Brodie I am a bit iffy on. There could be more there. There are still two more books to this one. I am very excited to move on to the next steps for Jane.
I so want to give this one a five but it just left me wanting that something. Feb 14, Karen rated it liked it. It was a little too scattered for me. I liked the premise but there was a weakness in Jane's character that I didn't like much. I actually liked her sister, Chelsea better. It truly got on my nerves. I'm not sure we needed Lester or any speed dating guys. I did like the estate sale scene and I loved the Oscars.
Still, the scene while playing Zelda could of been much more romantic but NO, Jane It was a little too scattered for me. Still, the scene while playing Zelda could of been much more romantic but NO, Jane still had trouble with believing in herself. Not Devon Hartford's best. NetGalley ARC Jan 10, Helen Beasley rated it it was amazing. After that her whole life changes but is it for the better or is it for the worse? I can't wait for book number 2 to come out and I hope I get the opportunity to review it these characters all go together so well they all have something to give to the story I was blown away reading this.

Now imagine the people of your past, your parents, your relatives: your family. Whether or not you know them, just imagine. Everything that has happened and in some ways for you. Like the story of your parents. You came from somewhere and whether you know that story by heart or whether it remains a mystery, know that somewhere, someone out there did what they could for you.
Now think of the one person you would do anything for, the way your parents or someone else out there has done for you. For me, the first person that comes to mind is my little sister.
I would protect her from the world if I could. So then I imagine, what if she saw herself as lowly as I have before?
What if she felt she could pinpoint everything wrong with her? It would break my heart. If my sister saw me feel this way about myself, I think it would break her heart too.
We hopefully spend our lives surrounded by people who bring out the best in us. People who inspire us. Like the the cases in which someone sees you so much more highly than you ever thought you could see yourself.
Remember who you really are and everything you entail. Think of all the times you did something that you would call beautiful. Just remember all of that and know that you are here for a reason. And I promise that reason reads as the textbook definition of beautiful if you just let it. I just want what she has. A perfect marriage…. People use me, and that is all which ever happens to me. After months of feeling bad about my appearance this helped me in more ways than I can even say.
