Why is zappos a great place to work

The most manipulative place to work. It was really fun before but now employees are in constant fear of losing their jobs for saying or doing something that proves to management that they aren't a "culture" fit. Encourages people to speak their minds, but then punishes them if their words aren't positive. It's like high school, a popularity contest if you're not just like them and basically a follower they will cast you out fast. The pay is great, the benefits are top of the line, the perqs amazing, many of the people are smart, resourceful, nice, fun, and hardworking.

But there is something literally sort of insidious and definitely hypocritical, about the culture, which appears to be all about individuality and bringing your true self to work, but that only is true if it conforms to a very narrow interpretation of what people are supposed to be like.

Pros Great benefits. Cons Use culture fit to fire unpopular teammates. Great Beneifts! Zappos has great benifits for employees however to spite what they say it is just like any other job. It is more about who you know than how good you are at your job. Having worked there for more than 4 years I was passed up for promotions because I was not friends with the inside click like you needed to be. The laid back vibes, fun culture and core values that made Zappos so amazing are a thing of the past.

Make sure you know people before you get hired or you'll never go anywhere. Pros Free and cheap food, great benefits. Cons no room for improvement, heavy call volume, little real care for employees. Very very political environment and geared toward the SJW young and entitled.

NEVER let them know you are a republican! Pressure to be over the top hyper and happy at all times. Pros work from home. Cons political enviroment. Jobs at Zappos Family of Companies.

Photo Operations Associate. Product Information Associate. FC Warehouse Associate. Retail Store Team Member - Unboxed! Influence Marketing Manager. There is a big disconnect with "management" and the employees. There are rotational positions and this company does nothing to allow employees to go unless they are in the inner circle.

The upper management has no interest in learning their employees growth nor knows who they are. At one time this company was great, but they rather hang on to that old reputation than create a new one.

A big thing they will always put a person back on the phones and growth is next to never. If you are looking to grow and advance, do not apply at Zappos. The benefits aren't that bad, but not worth the politics. I regret every applying to this fake company.

Zappos has a way of making employees feel like they matter. Lots of respect and attention is given to new trainees. They have good incentives and empower their employees to do the job right. Here are five tips I learned from Hsieh about building a winning corporate culture. The tour started with a Zappos shuttle bus showing up right on time outside my hotel. I was the only one on the bus. Everyone I met at Zappos had an outgoing personality, friendly and passionate.

Hsieh told me that the company hires for cultural fit. Zappos looks for people who have fun with others. Zappos customer service representatives are not required to follow a script and do not have to abide by time limits on their calls. Every employee has postcards sitting next to the phone. Deliver WOW through Service 2. Embrace and Drive Change 3. Create Fun and a Little Weirdness 4. Be Adventurous, Creative and Open-Minded 5. Pursue Growth and Learning 6. Instead of a top-down driven approach like many other organizations, the employees themselves helped refine, shape and provide their own opinions.

When the employees have a say, there is alignment, acceptance and total employee engagement. Consider the value, Pursue Growth and Learning. Having a healthy office atmosphere has been shown to decrease employee stress. This reduced stress increases employee engagement, which leads to more creativity and innovation, which in turn leads to higher productivity and, you guessed it, a better bottom line.

It may be easier than you think! It turns out that a few simple upgrades to the office can show your staff that you care and improve your entire work culture. Here are seven straightforward, low-cost office amenities Zappos has implemented to create a happier, more positive work environment. And the reasons why your office should, too! Casual is the new corporate and allowing your employees a relaxed dress code will not only allow them to be more comfortable but keep your company in with the times.

Giving teams time to relax and get to know each other is crucial to productivity. These interactions often turn into friendships, which bring more ingenuity through collaboration. Seventy-five percent of employees with best friends at work also say they feel able to take anything on, as opposed to 58 percent of those without internal friendships.

Encourage your teams to go on offsite activities and even the occasional happy hour. This will move them past awkward chitchat to true comradery. If you want employees who are truly all on the same page, try giving them the pages! Business books, reference books, books on improving writing or coding skills, these resources can only benefit your employees.
